Microaggresions: You don't need any dessert

I'm subscribed to the site Microaggressions.com which is a website of examples of where prejudice is shoved in peoples faces guised in a wrapper of 'it's no big deal'. It's pretty powerful reading, especially as most of the entries are only a sentence long. It shows that while we have come a long way as a society, there is still a lot more space for us to grow.

A recent fat-based microaggression particularly hit my nerve:

“You don’t need any dessert. You could live off your body fat for three months.”

My grandma after dinner. My parents just sat there silently. Made me feel like crying.
I wonder if this person has the same grandmother as me.

Hope you are all doing well, I miss you guys - apologies for the lack of blogging as always, though you are constantly in my thoughts and in my heart.

Some grandmothers need slapping.

Glad to see things are going well with RPM though. Yay for you!

All to familiar for a lot of people. I remember my dad telling me I had better stop eating or I'd be as big as a house. I still remember it vividly now.

I feel your sentiment, I used to be fat but with motivation from everyone in the family I get the shape that I want..
